Thanos Athanasios Fotas is a Swedish stand-up comedian and actor with origins in Greece but born in Sweden in 1986, in Botkyrka outside Stockholm.
Fotas has been active as a stand-up comedian since September 2009 when he debuted on Bungy Comedy. In 2017, Fota was the audience warm-up, a sort of stand-up comedian's band, at Kodjo Akolor's comedy performance Brott mot jantelagen 1.5.
For the wider public, Fotas was noticed in an interview in the Swedish news programme Aktuellt in May 2022. Fotas was asked about the rising food prices by a reporter in town and then chose to go into the character of Yonan Oglu and told that he was upset about the rising prices of zucchini. Through the measure, Fotas would be known under the name "The Zucchini Turk". He has also been seen in the film Hundraettåringen som smet från notan och försvann, the comedy series Laxbralla, and in the comedic tv quiz Invandrare för svenskar on the Swedisg channel SVT.
In 2023, Fotas staged a comedy show at Kulturhuset Stadsteatern in Stockholm. In 2014, Fotas was nominated in the Newcomer of the Year category at the Stand-up Awards in Stockholm.
Humor i hamnen
Humor i hamnen ("humour in the harbour") was an event arranged in the theme park Liseberg in Gothenburg, Sweden, two nights in a row (August 18th and 19th of 2023), where Thanos Fotas and four other Swedish comedians performed. The footage is taken on the second day of the event.
