About – What Is CrowdSnapper?

CrowdSnapper is work of passion for live events and photography, founded and run by me; Jonas Gustafsson. I'm a music nerd and also run a rock-centric music blog and play some electric guitar on my spare time, learning and transcribing all the music that I love (and appears easy enough for me to try replicate).

Based in Borås, Sweden, I've been documenting shows to a varying degree since the late 2000s, primarily in my home town and neighbouring, larger city; Gothenburg. I mostly consume rock-adjacent music in my ordinary life, but am no stranger to checking out and shooting shows of other genres.

Photography is a material sport to a large extent (even though many photographers insist that it isn't, whilst owning every camera on the planet), but I was using compact cameras (alongside the phone) for a long while, and it wasn't until the late 2010s that I felt the urge to move up to the next level with my shooting. I then moved to the Micro Four-Thirds system of interchangeable lens cameras in 2019, mostly because I still wanted small, almost pocketable gear to bring to concerts. Ironically enough, I didn't get to shoot any shows with my shiny new toys, since the pandemic put all events to a halt in 2020-2021.

Fast forward to 2024, where the current situation for live events in Sweden again almost like Lockdown 2.0, with stringent bans on all carrying bags, making it practically impossible for a normal person to bring even a small camera anywhere. The natural big step from there was to start shooting from the pit, something I found quite exciting! As I started applying for photo passes, I also decided to go full-frame to get the most out of it, since size and weight is then less of a concern. You can read more about my camera gear here.

Always looking for shows to shoot!
