Named after the part of town where they grew up, Liljeberget is a modern orchestra aiming to create memory and meaning by telling true stories, and lies, through music without limitations in terms of genre or another restricting factors. The lyrics are in Swedish and the music is rooted in Swedish indie pop, rock and punk. The band consists of childhood friends from bands such as Banana Boyz, Blind Tooth, Laid to Rest and Trikky Treat.
The band also played at the local festival LASTKAJEN earlier this summer which CrowdSnapper covered. However, due to bad weather, we had to bail before Liljeberget's set to avoid water damage to the camera gear. We're therefore glad to get a new chance, here at Sommartorsdagarna!
The Event
Sommartorsdagarna ("Summer Thursdays") is a public, annual city festival with concerts and other entertainment, offered every Thursday in July in Borås, Sweden.
The event is arranged by Borås City and funded by local companies aiming to bring more liveliness and pulse to the small town's square. The event is entirely free to attend.
Photographing the Show
CrowdSnapper reached out to the arrangement of Sommartorsdagarna months in advance but was unable to get pit access, so all footage is crowd-shot (booh!).
Liljeberget's show was well-attended but not jam-packed, allowing some movement within the crowd, for different angles of view.
I used my 70-180mm f/2.8 lens almost exclusively since its range would fit the bill nicely. Also brought one of my smaller Micro Four Thirds cameras with a superzoom lens as a fallback for extended focal range at both ends. More on the gear used below!
